Consider ScreenCloud if…
You want signage software that schedules screen channels and can play your own audio alongside them.
A CLOSER LOOK
Digital signage with channels, schedules, and a background-audio zone, compared with location audio programming.
ScreenCloud documents software-first digital signage. Its help center describes Channels for day, time, and date-range scheduling, multi-zone screen layouts, and a hidden Background Audio zone for MP3s, playlists, and some streams. It also says ScreenCloud does not provide a built-in music service. As of October 2026, that audio feature is sound attached to a screen channel, not music schedules and exact-time announcements across audio zones. Sources below ↓
Zonecast manages your own audio catalogs, playlists, schedules, campaigns, and announcements across locations and audio zones. Run its MIT-licensed core for one account, or use the paid cloud for multiple accounts. The agent is in early access. AI-generated announcements and player apps are not available yet.

You want a platform whose job is music, timed announcements, and audio zones across locations, self-hosted or on Zonecast Cloud.

Zonecast does not include a licensed music catalog. The self-hosted edition has no license fee for its MIT components, but you operate the infrastructure. The cloud edition is $1 per audio zone. Billing period to be confirmed. See the product before making your choice.
Its help center says it does not provide a built-in music service. You can play audio you supply in a background-audio zone.
In ScreenCloud’s docs it is a hidden part of a screen channel. In Zonecast an audio zone is a place, with its own schedule.
