Consider Yodeck if…
You want cloud software to design screen layouts, schedule them, and optionally play background audio on the displays.
A CLOSER LOOK
Cloud digital signage with layouts, playlists, and background audio, compared with audio zones and timed announcements.
Yodeck documents cloud digital signage: screen layouts with multiple media regions, playlists, scheduling, a timezone per player, and a REST API. Its layout docs describe background audio, including an audio file or playlist, that keeps playing over the layout. Its feature list also describes volume schedules by day and hour. As of October 2026, those are signage layouts and background sound, not a system of music schedules and exact-time announcements for separate audio zones. Sources below ↓
Zonecast manages your own audio catalogs, playlists, schedules, campaigns, and announcements across locations and audio zones. Run its MIT-licensed core for one account, or use the paid cloud for multiple accounts. The agent is in early access. AI-generated announcements and player apps are not available yet.
You want cloud software to design screen layouts, schedule them, and optionally play background audio on the displays.
You want music programming, timed announcements with ducking, and audio zones across locations, self-hosted or on Zonecast Cloud.

| Deployment | Cloud signage service | MIT-licensed core for one account, or managed multi-account cloud |
List the locations, audio zones, and accounts you need to manage. Separate your need for music content from your need for scheduling software. Then confirm playback-device support and deployment responsibilities with the vendor.
Zonecast does not include a licensed music catalog. The self-hosted edition has no license fee for its MIT components, but you operate the infrastructure. The cloud edition is $1 per audio zone. Billing period to be confirmed. See the product before making your choice.
Its layout docs describe background audio that can play continuously while a screen layout is showing. That is not the same as a weekly music schedule per audio zone.
Yodeck’s feature list uses zones for regions of a screen. Zonecast uses zones for separate audio areas, such as a floor and a café.
